Doug and Cindy Smith
Doug and Cindy Smith spend their summers in St. Andrews and love playing golf on the links of St. Andrews! They are also Crail members and play many of the courses in Fife. They lived in London for about 10 years and grew to love golf in Scotland and since 2013 have spent their summers there. During the rest of the year they live in Boulder, CO where Doug spent 10 years as Associate Dean and CFO for the College of Engineering at CU Boulder, Cindy has been working with Young Life International to provide cross-cultural training and counseling to Young Life workers going abroad. The Smiths have 3 adult children and 5 granddaughters and have been active members of their local church in Boulder, Denver Institute for Faith and Work and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Golf has been in their blood since early days when Doug learned from his dad and older brother at age 12 and Cindy in junior golf in her teens. Cindy realized that golf was a life mission of Doug when they married 54 years ago and vowed to not be left out! She loves to play right alongside, no matter the venue or weather.
Doug and Cindy met Pete, Kelly and Vicky at Cornerstone Church in St. Andrews and through their mutual friend Jason Bryan. When they heard about the mission of Saltire they wanted to be part of it and put their energy behind the idea and cause of a place in St. Andrews for golfers of faith.
